Peace (2014)
Paper Cut, handmade by Nahoko Kojima
One Single Sheet Black Gold Japanese Washi
30 x 30cm
Peace was sold to a private collector based in Kyoto, Japan, as part of a commission inspired by the hemp leaf. Kojima’s interpretation is both bold and beautiful at the same time, intertwining contradictory symbols – the bones could be representing death and the fresh vibrant leaves could refer to the life-giving properties of the plant. The artist does not have any comments regarding the work although the name should be sufficient as explanation.
